MTM P&L

MTM P&L (Mark-to-Market Profit & Loss)

The MTM P&L engine monitors your total floating P&L across all open positions and automatically closes everything when it hits a stop-loss or take-profit threshold that you define.

How It Works

Instead of setting SL/TP on individual positions, MTM P&L looks at your combined floating P&L for the entire account. This is useful when you're managing multiple correlated positions and want to control risk on the total portfolio, not per-position.

Example

  • You have 5 open positions with a combined floating P&L
  • MTM SL set to -$500 → Close all positions if total floating loss reaches $500
  • MTM TP set to +$1,000 → Close all positions if total floating profit reaches $1,000

The engine checks these thresholds continuously. The moment your combined P&L crosses either threshold, all positions are closed instantly.

Configuration

ParameterDescriptionExample
SL ThresholdMaximum loss before all positions are closed (negative value or pips)-$500
TP ThresholdProfit target to close all positions (positive value or pips)+$1,000

Use Cases

Portfolio Stop Loss

You're trading 4 correlated pairs (e.g., gold, silver, EURUSD, GBPUSD). Instead of managing individual stops, set an MTM SL of -$500 for the whole portfolio. If the combined loss reaches $500, everything closes.

Daily Profit Target

Set an MTM TP at your daily profit target. Once you've made $1,000 in floating profit, all positions close automatically. This enforces discipline and prevents giving back gains.

Risk Management During News

Before a major news event, set a tight MTM SL to limit maximum loss while keeping positions open for potential upside via the MTM TP.

Setting Up MTM P&L

  1. 1

    Open the MTM settings

Access MTM P&L from the insight cards area in the Command Center, or from the Automation section.

  2. 2

    Set your SL threshold

Enter the maximum floating loss you'll accept (e.g., -500 for $500 loss).

  3. 3

    Set your TP threshold

Enter the profit target where all positions should close (e.g., 1000 for $1,000 profit).

  4. 4

    Enable the engine

Toggle MTM P&L on. The engine starts monitoring immediately.

Visual Indicators

When MTM P&L is active, the MTM P&L insight card in the Command Center shows:

  • A red line at the SL threshold
  • A green line at the TP threshold
  • The current floating P&L position between these lines

This gives you a visual gauge of how close your P&L is to either threshold.

Closes all positions

When triggered, MTM P&L closes all open positions on the account — not just specific symbols. Make sure your thresholds account for your entire portfolio.

Combine with position-level SL/TP

MTM P&L works alongside individual position SL/TP levels. Your positions can have their own SL/TP while the MTM engine provides an additional portfolio-level safety net.
